KATSEYE is a Los Angeles-based girl group made up of six members: Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Manon Bannerman, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza, and Yoonchae Jeung. With members representing the Philippines, South Korea, Switzerland, and the United States, the group has quickly become known as a truly global pop act.
KATSEYE was formed through Dream Academy, the 2023 reality competition created through a partnership between HYBE and Geffen Records. The project brought together aspiring performers from around the world, putting them through an intensive selection and training process designed to create an internationally focused girl group.
Their journey was later documented in the Netflix docuseries Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE, which offered a behind-the-scenes look at the auditions, demanding training sessions, eliminations, and final formation of the group.
KATSEYE officially debuted in June 2024 with the single “Debut.” They soon gained wider attention with “Touch,” a track that became one of their early breakout releases. Later that year, the group released their first EP, SIS (Soft Is Strong), establishing their identity within the international pop scene.
In April 2025, KATSEYE entered a new phase of their career with the release of “Gnarly,” the lead single from their second EP, Beautiful Chaos. Although the song initially received mixed reactions, it generated significant attention and became the group’s first track to enter the Billboard Hot 100.
Released on June 27, 2025, Beautiful Chaos marked another major milestone for KATSEYE, debuting at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and becoming their highest-charting project at the time.
The EP’s second single, “Gabriela,” further expanded their success, reaching the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. The song also earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, while KATSEYE received a nomination for Best New Artist at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.
Blending different cultures, backgrounds, and musical influences, KATSEYE represents a new generation of pop groups built for an international audience. Their rapid rise, strong visual identity, and growing chart presence have positioned them as one of the most notable emerging acts in contemporary global pop.
